Stonewall Jackson Chapter
of the Association of the United States Army

Who We Are

There is only one U. S. Army installation in the thirty-five counties of western and southwestern Virginia that make up the chapter area of responsibility, Radford Army Ammunition Plant (RAAP). When our chapter was first organized in 1972, its mission was to support RAAP, as the New River Valley Chapter. In order to provide AUSA support to members and other Army units outside of the original six county area around RAAP the chapter expanded to the north to Shenandoah County, to the south to Halifax County along an eastern boundary including Amherst and Appomattox Counties, and to the west to Lee County. In 1997 the Chapter name was changed to the Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson Chapter, to better indentify with the total area now covered.
We assumed the expanded mission to provide AUSA support to all U. S. Army units in this area of Virginia - west of the Blue Ridge. These units are in five categories: Active Duty, Army Reserve, Virginia Army National Guard, Senior ROTC (Colleges), and Junior ROTC (High Schools). We also stay in direct involvement with our veterans.  We invite you to check us out to see why we are proud of our TOTAL ARMY represented in its various functions in "Stonewall Jackson Country".
